What is EFT?
EFT is often described as the tapping technique and is a powerful stress reduction tool that is proving to be extremely effective in a wide variety of conditions in which stress can be a causative or aggravating factor. Research continues to expand its evidence of effectiveness for conditions as wide as pain, anxiety, PTSD, phobias, suppression of cravings and more. It is an approach that incorporates multiples aspects of the mind and body through the stimulation of the meridian energy system that has been utilized in Chinese Medicine and acupuncture for thousands of years.
After 25 years as a health care provider, I cannot subscribe to the myth that the mind and body are separate. Emotional stress has neurological effects and creates physiological changes in the body, while physical stress can have profound psychological and emotional sequelae. Having a tool that can effectively short circuit this cycle is something that has made me more effective as a compassionate chiropractor who is committed to to relieving pain and suffering and promote growth and healing.

While there is no such thing as no risk, EFT has shown itself to be incredibly safe. Research to date recognizes that certain individuals that have experienced seizures may have a rebound relaxation/stress reaction and it is recommended that EFT treatment should be provided in concert with a neurologist. In addition, individuals with certain mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and severe PTSD symptoms should be under the simultaneous supervision of a mental health care provider. If you have emotional or physical problems it is essential that you consult your physician or licensed mental health practitioner, since EFT is not a substitute for medical or mental health treatment.
