Dr.Craig's Best Back Exercises Weekly Class. After teaching patients core strengthening and stretching exercises for 20 years, I decided to finally offer an ongoing weekly class, designed to provide personalized instruction and attention for those who have had back problems or are working to avoid having them. Beginning to advanced students are welcome as progressive exercises will be taught. My hope is that individuals will come away with a way to incorporate a series of exercises that they can use every day, and not ONLY perform them at the class. Drop-ins are welcome, though first -timers must register in advance. Classes will be held at the Sears House from 12-1 and will be $20/class with monthly discounts available.

If you do plan on attending this innovative class
please read the following recommendations prior to attending.

Welcome to Integral Yoga Hatha. Please bring a yoga mat, a firm pillow or cushion to sit on, a covering blanket for deep relaxation, a neck/towel roll, and perhaps an eye pillow as well. (If you need assistance obtaining any of these items, we will have a limited number for you to purchase).

It's recommended that you not eat for 2-3 hours prior to class and if possible, for another 1/2 hour after wards. It is requested that you don't drink water or use the bathroom during class unless you absolutely need to as it can disrupt the flow of the class. If you have a question during class, just motion the instructor with your hand. The goal of yoga is to keep your awareness within. Yoga is personal and individual.

The postures are meant to be held gently and steadily with no tension whatsoever. Instead, work is done mindfully, recognizing when a point of tension is reached and then concentrating on relaxing and utilizing the breath to assist in releasing the tension and moving through it if, and only if, your body agrees. When you accept the present limitation and understand that it may always be there, then you have the opportunity to expand beyond it. When a student pushes him or herself, often, a trained instructor can see this and assist. However, many of us are well practiced at hiding pain. If you leave class feeling tension, soreness or pain that you didn't feel when you entered, or if you feel pain the following morning, you have pushed yourself too hard . Make a vow to your body that you will honor it and no longer force it.

Before you begin your first class, please take responsibility to make sure and communicate to the instructors any current symptoms, recent or past injuries or surgeries that might affect or inhibit your abilities to perform yoga poses.

GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO RECOGNIZE YOUR BODY'S LIMITS AT THE MOMENT AND PROMISE YOUR BODY THAT YOU WILL BE GENTLE WITH IT!
